Christmas Season Selling
There is a long-standing myth that December is a horrible month to sell a home. But we believe it can be the best time of year to sell a home!
You may ask why this is—and here’s what we’ve found.
Many sellers take their homes off market at Christmas*. Kids are home, guests may be coming, and who really wants people walking through at this time of year! So, those who do keep their homes on market, or come on the market at this time of year, have the edge.
Yes, kids are on vacation. But this goes both ways. With the family together, it makes it one of the best times to visit a new city for a potential move. Or, a good time as there are some vacation days to be had, which means time to look at property.
And the properties! Gorgeous lights. Trees decorated. Delicious smells of baking! Homes at this time of year, and neighborhoods, are at their best!
As if that is not enough, there are business decisions that have to be made before the end of the year. Sometimes it’s gifting money, and sometimes it’s buying for tax purposes. Either way, this is a win (again) for both buyer and seller!
Sellers are serious in December, and buyers are serious in December. A win-win all around!
